Data & analytics / Build playbook
Start the week with the right questions.
Turn approved business metrics into a concise briefing with context, exceptions, and named owners.
An example implementation plan, not a preinstalled app or a customer case study.
- 01Approved metrics
- 02Weekly brief
- 03Owned follow-up
The build plan
- 01
Define the decision set
Choose the metrics that actually inform action. Name each metric owner, calculation, reporting window, and the threshold that calls for review.
- 02
Connect controlled sources
Use a read-only Snowflake role with approved views. Bring in planning targets from a designated Google Sheet without overwriting historical actuals.
- 03
Build the briefing page
Show current results, a comparison period, source timestamp, and space for the owner to explain an exception. Keep query cost and refresh frequency bounded.
- 04
Send a reviewed summary
Prepare a short Slack digest with a link to the briefing. Restrict financial or personal data to its approved audience.
- 05
Check incomplete weeks
Test missing targets, late data, changed definitions, and a failed warehouse query. Make uncertainty visible instead of presenting a polished but misleading number.
Before it goes live
- Late or missing data is clearly labeled.
- Every metric has a definition and an owner.
- A channel member cannot see information beyond their approved access.
Start with this prompt
Paste into Scout, then adapt it to your team. Do not paste credentials or private customer data.
Build an executive briefing workspace using approved Snowflake views, Google Sheets targets, and Slack. Start read-only with sample metrics. Show definitions, owners, source freshness, comparison periods, and exception notes. Keep query budgets bounded. Prepare a short digest for human review before sending. Handle late data, missing targets, failed queries, and restricted metrics without inventing numbers.
